KOTH rules

The official King of the Hill rules: qualifying bets, target multipliers, timing, and how a winner is crowned.

King of the Hill competitions follow a simple set of rules designed to ensure fair gameplay and clear outcomes.

Latest qualifying bet wins

If multiple players hit the target multiplier:

  • The most recent qualifying bet takes priority

  • The latest player becomes the new King of the Hill

Timing is therefore extremely important.

Timer reset rule

Every time a new player becomes King of the Hill:

  • The event timer resets

  • The competition continues

This mechanic keeps the event active as long as players continue competing.

Bonus buy rule

When using bonus buys, the win percentage is calculated based on the bonus buy amount, not the base bet amount. This ensures fairness when comparing multipliers.

Timer and tips rule

Timer length is set per event, commonly between 10 minutes and 1 hour. The timer resets to full whenever a new King takes the throne.

Sending a tip to the current King of the Hill adds time to the clock. Spectators can use this to extend a round they want to enter.

Anti-snipe rule: any qualifying bet placed with under 10 seconds left extends the timer back to 10 seconds. You cannot win by betting at the last second, the clock always gives the table time to answer.

Single winner rule

King of the Hill is a winner-takes-all competition.

At the end of the event:

  • Only one player wins

  • The winner receives 100% of the prize pool

No rewards are shared among other participants.
