What Is a Void Bet?

Learn what a void bet is, when bets are cancelled, and how Chips.gg handles bets affected by format changes or unusual circumstances.

Updated today

Sometimes, bets don’t count because the event changes or isn’t played as expected. These are called void bets. Understanding when a bet is voided helps you know when stakes are refunded and when bets remain valid on Chips.gg.

When Bets Are Voided

A void bet occurs when a bet cannot be settled according to the original terms of the offer. This can happen for several reasons, but a common scenario involves bets tied to specific periods or formats:

  • Quarter / Half / Period Bets: Bets placed on a specific timeframe of a match (e.g., first half, second quarter) refer only to the score or result in that period.

  • If the match is played in a different format, or a period is shortened, extended, or cancelled, the bet is voided.

Example:

  • Bet: Basketball – Bet on Team A to win the first quarter

  • Scenario: The game format is changed and the first quarter is shortened. Your bet is voided and your stake refunded.

Example – Soccer Half Bet:

  • Bet: Arsenal to score in the first half

  • Scenario: The match is played as a single 70-minute period instead of two halves. Your bet is voided.

Many situations can affect voided bets so if you’re unsure, it’s always best to contact our Live support for any clarification.
