What is 2FA or OTP code?

Updated over 2 years ago

What is 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) ?

2FA is an extra layer of security used to make sure that the person trying to execute sensitive functions on the account is the player himself, and that is done by requiring the player to insert a 6 numbers PIN or OTP code generated by an authentication app installed on his mobile device. While 2FA is on, the player is required to enter a PIN sent to his authenticator app to confirm each action such as:

  • Password reset

  • Email reset

  • Tip and Withdraws

  • All security related settings, and all funds moving functions

How does 2FA works?

There are different types of 2FA methods, the one we use on Chips.gg is the authentication software that will generate a unique 6 numbers PIN every 60 seconds, once a PIN expires it can not be used, you will then have a 60 seconds window to insert the new generated PIN.

If you want to learn more about 2FA we will add an article written by Authy app that explains deeply what is 2FA : https://authy.com/what-is-2fa/ .
