In order to use 2FA you will need to install an Authenticator app on your mobile or on your computer.
There are many apps that can be used, but for this guide we will use the most two famous ones, Authy and Google Authenticator.
Step 1. Download authentication app.
Google Authenticator: This app is available on mobile and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
Authy: This app can be downloaded on mobile or desktop, and it is available for different platforms.
Once you have downloaded an authentication app, continue to the next step.
Step 2. Enable 2FA on Chips.gg
You can find the 2FA settings on Chips.gg in the Profile / settings / security, click on the button below to be redirected to the 2FA settings page.
Step 3. Click on "Enable 2FA" button
Once you click on the "Enable 2FA" button you will be faced with this interface:
Step 3.1. Save the "Secret Key" or Screenshot the "QR code"
Once you activate the 2FA you will not have access to the QR code or the Secret again, so now is a good time to save the secret or the QR code.
The secret and the QR code are basically the same, one you scan with your authenticator app's cam, and the other you enter manually into your authenticator app, both to serve the same person and is to add your Chips.gg 2FA account into the authenticator app.
So if you ever lost your access to your 2FA app you can reinstall the app and recover your 2FA account by scanning the QR code you took screenshot of, or entering the secret key your saved.
Step 3.2. Import the secret or scan the QR code
Now you will need to import your Chips.gg account 2FA on your app. Open the app you've installed and follow the following steps:
Mobile: For mobile click on the add account icon (+), and you will be able to scan the QR code, once scanned and accepted the account will be added and a PIN will be generated for you every 60 seconds. You can also import your 2FA account by adding the 2FA Secret manually or copy and paste.
Desktop: For desktop click on the add account icon (+), and then paste the 2FA secret and click save. You will see now that a PIN for you generated every 60 seconds.
Step 3.3. Insert the PIN, 6 numbers, or OTP Code into the site
To active the 2FA on your account, now that you have your 2FA account added into your app, and the 6 numbers PIN are being generated for you every 60 seconds, insert the current PIN you have on your app in the "2FA Code" section and click on the "Activate" button before your PIN expires.
Now your 2FA is enabled and ready to you, and any action on your Chips.gg account that requires you to enter your 2FA code, you can use a fresh generated code from your app, and make sure you perform the action on the site before the code expires on your app.
